Overview

To maintain efficient and sustainable use of our video platforms, storage retention standards will apply to video recordings in Panopto, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. 

 

Environment

Retention Standards

Panopto

  • Videos are archived two years after their last view.
  • Once archived, videos cannot be played unless restored. Restoring archived videos can take several days before they are playable again.
  • Archived videos can be restored within 30 days.
  • After 30 days in archive status, videos are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
  • Videos will not be archived if they are viewed at least once every two years.

Zoom

  • Zoom Cloud meeting recordings are deleted one year after they are created.
  • Deleted recordings move to the Zoom trash bin.
  • Recordings can be restored from the trash bin within 30 days.
  • After 30 days in the trash bin, recordings are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Microsoft Teams

  • Meeting recordings are deleted one year after they are created.
  • Deleted recordings move to the trash bin.
  • Recordings can be restored from the trash bin within 90 days.
  • After 90 days in the trash bin, recordings are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
