FAQ
Why are these standards being applied now?
Panopto videos have already been archived after two years of no views. Previously, archived videos were not being permanently deleted. To maintain sustainable use of the platform and available storage resources, the full retention process will now be applied, including permanent deletion of archived videos after the archive recovery period.
What should I do before June 1?
Review your archived Panopto, Zoom, and Teams videos and restore or download any content you wish to keep. You should also review Zoom and Teams recordings and move any recordings you need to retain long term.

Will videos be deleted on June 1?
Yes. Beginning June 1, archived Panopto videos, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams recordings that have met the retention thresholds will be permanently deleted.
Will I receive a notice before individual videos are permanently deleted?
No. Individual notices will not be sent before videos are permanently deleted. Please review your video content before June 1st and restore or download any content you wish to keep.
Where should I store videos I want to keep but no longer actively use?
Store them in your DSU OneDrive account. Each DSU employee has 1 TB of OneDrive storage.
Optionally you can also enable Zooms and Team integrations that will automatically move recordings to Panopto.
Can permanently deleted videos be restored?
No. Once a video is permanently deleted, it cannot be recovered.
Can I bulk download Panopto videos?
No. Panopto videos must be downloaded individually.
Will deleted Panopto videos still work in courses, shared links, or embedded locations?
No. Once a Panopto video is permanently deleted, it will no longer be available through Panopto, courses, shared links, or embedded locations where it was previously used.
