3. Instructor Creates the Assignment
3.1. The instructor will create an assignment in their respective LMS, using the following instructions:
4. Student Submits an Assignment
To access the "Panopto Student Submission Tool 1.3 - DSU" they will click the "insert stuff" button and then click the tool.

If an assignment subfolder does not already exist in the course folder, the Panopto student video submission tool automatically creates one at the submission of the first assignment. Within the assignment folder, a subfolder, Student Submissions, will also be created for finalized submissions. Once a student's video has been submitted, it will be moved to the Student Submission subfolder. Once the assignment is complete, assignment folders can be closed manually, and a new assignment folder will automatically be created for any future Panopto student video assignments. Please note:
-
In the assignment folder, students will have access to their own videos and can still edit them.
-
In the student submission folder, students will have access to view their own videos, and if they would like to keep a record of their submission, they can copy them to another folder. They cannot edit or delete video submissions once they are in this folder. Note: they must have creator access in the Panopto folder to which they want to copy their videos.
-
Students cannot view any other user’s submissions.
4.2. When a student chooses the option to submit a video, three options will appear in an embedded video selector. They can either Choose an existing video from a folder they have creator access to, Upload a new video, or Record a new video using either Panopto Capture or the Panopto desktop application for Windows or Mac (Fig. 1a).

4.2.a. Choose: A student who has creator access to a folder may choose an existing video they already have in Panopto on the Choose tab (Fig. 1b). This may be a personal folder, an assignment folder, or any other folder in Panopto that they can access.
Figure 1b
4.2.b. Upload: Students can upload new videos to Panopto to submit for the assignment (Fig. 1c). Uploaded videos will be added to the course's assignment folder.

4.2.c. Record: Students can record a new video using Panopto Capture or the Panopto desktop application, which will be added to the course's assignment folder (Fig. 1d). Students can only see their videos in this folder and can edit the video in Panopto before finalizing their submission. If a student would like to edit their video, they should cancel the submission process, log into Panopto, and complete their edits before submitting the video. Once they have made edits, they can restart the submission process and instead select the Choose option to submit their video. Note: the Launch Capture option may not be available to you, depending on how your local Panopto administrator has the site set up. If you do not have the desktop application downloaded to your machine, click the Download link to download the recorder.
