Issue: GoTrojans / Eduroam Wi-Fi works at some buildings but not others (WPA2-Enterprise)

  • I am unable to connect to some buildings, but some buildings like the Library work fine

 

Overview

This is an issue where the GoTrojans or Eduroam are set up as WPA3-Enterprise networks instead of WPA2-Enterprise.

 

Environment

  • This KB assumes you are using Windows 11

 

Resolution
  1. Click on the network symbol on the system trayUploaded Image (Thumbnail)

  3. Click More Wi-Fi settings

  4. The Settings panel will open, select Manage known networks.

  5. Click GoTrojans or Eduroam from the list, do not click Forget, just click somewhere on the bar or optionally on the right facing arrow.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  6. A significant amount of information should show up. Look for a row called Security type:, this should say WPA2-Enterprise. If it says WPA3-Enteprise, follow the next steps on changing it to WPA2-Enterprise.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  7. At the bottom of this same page, under Advanced Wi-Fi network properties select Edit.

  8. Click the Security tab and then on the dropdown for Security Type: select WPA2-Enterprise and then click OK

    You should now be able to connect to all Wi-Fi available on campus.
