How To: Install and Access VMware Horizon Client

Question
  • How can I install the VMware Horizon Client on my computer?

  • I am working remotely from a personal computer, how can I access DSU resources?

  • How do I login to the VMware Horizon Client?

Overview

A virtual machine (VM) is essentially a computer that runs on a server located in our data center. In contrast, a physical machine is the laptop or desktop you use at your desk. Both types of machines function similarly, but instead of being physically present at your desk, the virtual machine resides on the server. You connect to the virtual machine remotely through your physical device using software that handles the connection. At DSU, we use VMware Horizon Client to make this process easy and efficient.

Once connected, the virtual machine behaves just like the computer on your desk, but all processing is handled on the server. This setup allows us to access the software that we need from anywhere with an internet connection and a computer.

Environment

  • DSU and personal devices.
