How to Fix Dell Fingerprint Reader

  • My fingerprint reader is not working, how do I fix it?

 

Overview

This is a quick guide on how to fix issues with the fingerprint reader on Dell Latitude 7440 laptops.

 

Environment

  • Dell Latitude 7440 laptops

 

Resolution

NOTE: please ensure that your fingerprint reader is clean and free from any debris.

  1. Click or Navigate to dell.com/support.

  2. On the left side, locate the section labelled Drivers & Diagnostics and select Update Drivers.

  3. Now scroll down to Access the complete list of drivers and downloads for Latitude 7440 and click Expand.

  4. In the Keyword search box enter Vault.

  5. Locate the Dell ControlVault3 Driver and Firmware update and click on Download.

  6. When the file finishes downloading, run the installer.

  7. When the installer asks if you want to install or extract the update, chose install.

  8. After it installs, restart your computer. The fingerprint reader should be operational after the restart.
