Installing/Updating Printer Driver

  • How can I use additional features that are included with my department printer?

When using the Mobility App to map your printers by default the installed printer driver is PaperCut Global PostScript. This is a universal driver that covers most printers but can also limit some of the functionality of the printer by not using the manufacturers printer driver. The steps below will show how to change the printer driver to achieve full functionality.

  • DSU campus network

Before you begin:  Make sure that you have the printer mapped having used the Mobility App.

  1. Click the Windows icon on the lower left part of the screen and search for Printers & Scanners.
  2. Click the printer that needs the driver changed on and choose Manage.

  3. Click Printer Properties.
  4. Along the top choose the Advanced tab.
  5. In the Driver drop down box choose the driver that matches the printer you are working with, click Apply and you are finished. If the driver is not listed leave this windows open and proceed to step 6.

  6. If the driver is not available, based on your printer model download the Kyocera or Konica Minolta Driver package from the Sharepoint site here.
  7. From where you downloaded the driver right click the file and choose Extract All and save the file to C:\Printer Drivers.

  8. Go back to the Advanced tab in Printer Properties and choose New Driver, then click Next.
  9. Choose Have Disk, then Browse. From the Look in: drop down navigate to the following location based on printer manufacturer
    • Kyocera: Navigate to C:\Printer Drivers\KX Driver v7.4.1525\64bit and choose OEMSETUP.INF. Click Open. Click OK.
    • Konica Minolta: Navigate to C:\Printer Drivers\UPDPCL5Win_3500MU\driver\win_x64 and choose KOBS8F__. Click Open. Click OK.

  10. From the Printer Driver Selection choose the model of printer you are adding the driver for. Click Next. Click Finish. Click Apply. If setting up a Konica Minolta after clicking apply pick the model of printer you are mapping then click OK.

  11. Your printer drive has now been changed and clicking the Device Settings tab will show you more printer settings such as adding cassettes or drawers.
