Drop Classes or Withdraw from University
Dropping Classes:
Students may drop a class during the census-drop/add period (found in the academic calendar) and receive a refund for the full tuition and fees charged for that class.
Students may drop a class after the drop/add period to receive a W grade and no refund; deadline is published in the academic calendar and the DSU academic catalogs. Students wishing to drop a class may do so in Self Service Banner.
-Log in to Self-Service Banner Registration
-Select Register for Classes
-Select Term --> Continue
-In Summary - Change Action to Drop No Refund for class needing to drop
-Select Submit
A drop may impact financial aid if it has already been paid to the student account in SDePay, and the student may owe the University for returned financial aid funds.
If you are needing to drop/withdraw from ALL your semester courses, see the Withdrawing from School section below.
Sections with start and end dates outside the standard full term will have different drop deadlines - the dates of the section can be found in Self-Service Banner and the drop deadlines for those sections can be found in the academic calendar and DSU catalog.
Students may also withdraw from school (ALL enrolled classes for the term).
To withdraw from the current term, please complete the online form here.
This form is used for all DSU enrolled students, excluding high school dual credit. If you have additional questions regarding withdrawals, please contact DSU-Registrar@dsu.edu.
Please refer to the current academic catalog for official policies on withdrawing from school. Partial refunds or returns to financial aid sources will be calculated within the first 60% of the term for students withdrawing from school. Deadlines for withdrawing from classes are published in the academic calendar, course syllabi, and in the academic catalogs.
