Customizing your Windows 10 Taskbar and Start Menu

 

Overview:


Pinning apps to your Taskbar and Start Menu allow you to more easily get to the apps you use the most on your computer.

 

Pinning apps to the Taskbar:


Find an app that you use frequently on your computer
Right-click the app and choose “Pin to taskbar” (Or “More” > “Pin to taskbar”)
Once the app shows up in your taskbar, you can click and drag the icon to your desired spot
If you no longer want an app in your taskbar, you can Right-click the app and choose “Unpin from taskbar” to get rid of it
 


Pinning apps to the Start Menu:


Open the Start Menu (Windows logo in the bottom left corner)
Search for an app you want to pin
Right-click the app and choose “Pin to start”
Click the Start button again to get back to the Start Menu
Click and drag your app icon where you want it
If you drag it into a new section, you can click the blank space above the app to rename the group
If you no longer want the app in the start menu, Right-click the app and choose “Unpin from Start”

 


Changing Taskbar and Start Menu settings:


Right-click on the taskbar and click “Taskbar settings”
From here you can change all kinds of settings for your Taskbar including the position on the screen, automatically hiding the Taskbar, and enabling small icons.
To change Start Menu settings, Right click the Taskbar and click “Taskbar settings”
On the left section of the window, choose Start
From here you can show more tiles, show your apps list, or show recently opened items.
