Password Reset: Local Device Won't Recognize New Password

Issue/Question
  • I changed my DSU account password, now I cannot log into my DSU assigned device.

Overview

After a user changes their password OR of this was done off-campus, until you return to campus, you will need to use your “old” password to log into the device and you should be prompted for the "new" password when accessing email and other DSU network resources while off campus.

Environment

  • DSU user account

  • DSU assigned devices

Resolution
  1. Dock or connect your device to network cable on campus. 

  2. Press and hold the +L key to lock instanatly OR select Ctrl + Alt + Delete and Lock your device. 

  3. From the Windows 10 login screen, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete OR any key on your keyboard to activate login screen.

  4. Enter your new password to complete login to device.

This will cache your new password to your local device (this can only be done while connected to campus network).
