Entering Midterm Grades Using Self-Service Banner

Overview:

Midterm deficiency (DEF) grades are required to be entered in Self-Service Banner for this Fall 2024 semester. DEF grades should be assigned to students whose current grades indicate that they may be at risk of not successfully completing the course this semester or currently sit with a D or an F. The deadline for entering midterm grades is midnight, on Wednesday, October 23rd.

This process remains the same as in has past terms. 

If a student has not attended your class, you MUST give them a deficiency (DEF) and indicate their last date of attendance.

If you have no DEF grades to assign for any FULL TERM sections assigned to you, you MUST email Autumn.Glanzer@dsu.edu in the Registrar’s Office and your college administrative staff lead indicating which section(s) do not have DEF grades to report.  


Instructions:

 
- Go to https://mydsu.dsu.edu/ --> Select Login to SNAP for Faculty/Staff 
 
- Navigate to Faculty/Advisors Tab
 
- Under Faculty Dashboard, select the Click for your Grade Rosters link
 
- Select Midterm Grades under Faculty Grade Entry
 
- Select the section you are needing to enter midterm grades for (click the Subject Title of the section to see your roster display below)
     If you have pages of sections to filter through, you can search and find specific sections using the Search feature
     The Grading Status bubble next to the subject will show Not Started during midterms - do not worry about that status 

 
- In the Midterm Grade column, enter a DEF grade for students who are at risk of failing or currently sit with a D or F grade in the class
     If they have not attended, you must enter a DEF grade and Last Attend Date
     For LDA, use the 1st date of the semester (8/26/2024
) and enter a 0 in the Hours Attended field
 
- Some class rosters may appear on more than one page - make sure you are paging through the entire roster to assign DEF grades if appropriate 
 
- Select SAVE in the bottom-right corner
 
You will see a green Save Successful notification in the upper-right corner when your DEF midterm grades have been successfully submitted
If you entered a last date of attendance for any student, you will get a message stating the student has not withdrawn. This will not affect successful submission.
