Respondus Monitor
Overview:
Respondus Monitor is a remote proctor solution built into Respondus LockDown Browser. It allows students to take proctored exams using their own devices, in the comfort of their own home by utilizing their webcam. This guide will show you how to activate Respondus Monitor for one of your exams.
Respondus Monitor is integrated into the Respondus LockDown browser. Students do not need any addional software besides LDB, and for instructors the Respondus Monitor settings are located in the LockDown Browser tab in the Quizzes section of your D2L course.
How to activate Respondus Monitor for a Quiz:
- On your D2L course page, go to the Quizzes section and click on the LockDown Browser tab. On your preferred quiz, click the dropdown menu on the left hand side and select settings.
- Here you will see the options for Respondus Monitor and Lockdown Browser. Check the "Require Respondus Monitor for this Exam" option to turn it on.
Settings:
- Webcam Check and Facial Detection Check (Mandatory)
- Webcam check verifies their camera/mic work by recording a quick video. Facial Detection check verifies the student is in frame.

- Show ID
- Take a photo of the student holding up their university (or other) identification
- Enviornment Check
- Requires students to pan around their desk/room area to show that it is free of items that could be used to cheat on a test. Papers, books, phones etc
