Reset – DSU Network Authentication Wired and/or Wireless

 

Overview:

User may need to complete this step if they are:

  • A student changing their password.
  • An employee returning to campus for first time after changing password while OFF campus.
  • Accidentally entering wrong username or password

 

DSU Faculty/Staff: Windows 7/8/10:

Do a Ctrl-Alt-Del to LOCK your device. 

Do another Ctrl-Alt-Del to UNLOCK using your new password.

Right click the wireless icon in your system tray. Choose Open Network and Sharing Center.

After the Network & Sharing center console window opens, click the Wireless Network Connection (GoTrojans) link.

In the Wireless Network Connection windows, click the Wireless Properties box to open.

In the GoTrojans Wireless Network Properties window, select the Security tab and choose the Advanced Settings button.

Make sure User Authentication is selected in the dropdown menu.

Click on Save Credentials and enter your DSU Network username and new Password.

Click OK on console windows to close.

Wireless card should disconnect and reconnect with your new credentials.
 

DSU Student: Windows 7/8/10:

Right-click Start, Run and type “services.msc” and press Enter.

Scroll down and double click “Wired AutoConfig”.

Change the Startup Type using dropdown to read “Automatic”.

Click Start.

Click OK.

Right-click Start, Run and type “control netconnections” then press Enter.

Right-click Local Area Connection and select Properties (Local Area Connection may be displayed with another name such as Ethernet, Wired, Intel – you want to choose the “wired” connection)

Click the Authentication tab.

Click the Settings button and uncheck the box “Verify the server's identity by validating the certificate” and click OK.

Click the Additional Settings button.  Check the box for Specify Authentication Mode, change the dropdown to read User Authentication, then click Save Credentials.  Enter your DSU Network Username and password (Use DSU\ in front of your username; i.e., dsu\username) Click OK three times.

NOTE:  Depending on your computer, it may take a minute or two to obtain an IP address before you will be able to access the Internet.

 

Apple MacOS:

Click the wireless icon in finder menu bar.  Select Turn Wi-Fi Off.

Click the wireless icon in finder menu bar again.  Select Turn Wi-Fi On.

Enter your DSU Network username and new Password to authenticate.

 

Troubleshooting:

Don’t forget to reset your WebMail credentials in MyDSU portal after your recent password reset.
