What is D2L (Desire2Learn)?                                                                              

D2L (Desire2Learn) is a course management system (CMS) that provides a web-based environment for online course delivery and class interaction.  D2L replaces WebCT as the state-wide CMS.

What username and password do I use to login for the first time?

  1. If you are enrolled in any of the six SD universities, your WebAdvisor ID is your D2L ID. You can visit https://boris.sdbor.edu/idm/retrieve-password.cfm?new to reset your password.
  2. If you don't know your WebAdvisor ID, you can visit https://boris.sdbor.edu/idm/retrieve-username.cfm to get your WebAdvisor ID. The retrieval requires your SD university e-mail address.
  3. If you don't what your university e-mail address is, you can visit https://boris.sdbor.edu/idm/retrieve-email.cfm to find out. You'll need your 7-digit Student ID number for the retrieval. You can find your 7-digit Student ID number on the tuition billing statement and on your Student ID Card.

I forgot my password.  How can I retrieve it?

To retrieve your password, visit https://boris.sdbor.edu/idm/retrieve-password.cfm and enter your user name and university e-mail address.  Your password will be mailed to your university e-mail box. For DSU students, it is your DSU webmail box.

How do I change my password after I login to my D2L courses?

To change your password, click on the "My Password" link in the left menu of your "My Home" page in D2L.

What software do I need to access a D2L course?

In order to access a D2L course, you will need at least the required software listed in the table below.  If you are unsure of your system specifications, you can run a System Check to ensure you are running a sufficient system. To do so, navigate to https://d2l.sdbor.edu/index.asp and click "Please click here for a System Check before you login".

Any additional software needed to access a D2L course?

Where can I get help?

There are several supporting resources you can use to get help:

  1. You can call 1-800-641-4309 or email d2L@dsu.edu

  2. Go to Lowry Hall and consult with the support desk staff to get help.

  3. Visit the online video tutorials and how-do guides at http://support.dsu.edu/d2l/students.

  4. Use the "Help" link within D2L.  The "Help" link is located on the My Home menu in the top banner of the site.  This help functionality gives you a Table of Contents of options available and links to descriptions about those functions.

You can access your Desire2Learn courses from anywhere as long as you have access to the Internet
