WebDav for File Management

You can use WebDav to access the files in your D2L course space. Once WebDav is established to your course space in D2L, you can put files into the D2L course files folder like a folder on your local computer. However, beware that links can break if you move or rename existing files in your D2L course space if these files are linked in your course components. Here are the steps:

1. Open your course, click Edit Course > Files and then copy the root directory in the red circle.
   
    
   
    
2.  Open your PC , select Start > My Network Places.
   
   
   
   
    
3. Click Add a Network Place.
   
   
   
   
    
4. Add Network Place Wizard window displays, click on Next button.
   
   
   
   
   
    
5. Continuously click on Next button.
    

 6. Enter the Network address into the box. The address should have two parts. the first part is http://sdbordav.desire2learn.com. The second part is your course content root directory. You can find your course content root directory by selecting "Edit Course" > "Files" and the path is listed near the top starting with /content/ such as /content/DSU/DSUsandbox/yourUserName/ followed by # . Make sure that you don't have extra / or miss a / in the path. Click Next.

7. A login window pops up. Enter your D2L login information. Click OK.

8. The wizard generates the name for the network place. You can change the name if you like. Click Next.

9. To complete the add Network Place Wizard, check the box of Open the network place when I click finish, click Finish.

10. You can view your D2L files and then you can edit, add and delete the files on your local computer.
